Kanturk Community Astroturf

Kanturk Community Astro Turf Ltd. Is a group whose aim is to develop an All Weather Community Astro Turf pitch for use by all the local Clubs, Schools and Community Organisations in Kanturk and all the neighbouring parishes in Duhallow.

The Group consists of Kanturk Rugby, GAA and Soccer Clubs, Colaiste Treasa & Scoil Mhuire Secondary Schools, St. Colmans Boys & Kanturk Girls National Schools, Infinity English College, Kanturk Community Council & Kanturk Chamber Of Commerce.

The pitch site is in Greenane adjacent to the Colaiste Treasa Sports Hall. The land belongs to Cork County Council which Kanturk Community Astro Turf Ltd. has on a long term lease. This property was used as a playing pitch by different clubs down through the years and was known locally as “ Francies Field”.

The projected cost of the project is €970,000 which will be partially funded by grants from different Government & Local Authority agencies. But some finance will have to be raised from the Community which will be done by a fundraising Raffle.

It is of a belief that this All Weather Astro Turf pitch is well needed & wanted by all the Clubs & Schools on an year round basis who have ever increasing player numbers.
